Last week we celebrated Children’s Mental Health Week in school!
Nursery were learning about feelings, labelling them, thinking about how they recognise them in theirselves and others and demonstrating what they see on a person’s face if they are upset, angry, surprised, excited, worried and happy.
Year 1 children had a lovely week expressing their feelings and strategies they can use to help when they feel overwhelmed or confused. They ended the week by drawing things that make them happy. The children drew pictures with chalk in the playground, created their own happiness picture wall in class, and listened to soothing music.
Year 3 had a yoga lesson to help with their mindfulness and Year 4 learned about Diversity and about different types of music from different cultures.
Well done to Miss Field, Mrs Garbett and our well-being champions in school, who helped create the ‘Rainbow Room’ to support children’s well-being during lunchtime hours!
