On Thursday, we welcomed Usmaa from the Royal Institution into school for a special ‘Science Day’. Usmaa presented fun, interactive and informative shows to our KS1 and 2 pupils in the morning all about the digestive process. We were also thrilled to have so many parents and carers able to join us in the afternoon for a community event.
Over the last term, our school has beenĀ part of a special panel with the important job of helping to judge the Young people’s book prize for best Science book. Each class were given a selection of shortlisted entries to read and score.
Our reading council met together a few weeks ago to decide our favourite entry. We choseĀ ‘Fantastically Great Women Scientists and their stories’ by Kate Pankhurst as our school favourite.
The official winner was announced today asĀ Ā ‘If the World Were 100 People’, by Jackie McCann and Aaron Cushley. The children can look out for these fantasticĀ Science books in their book corners this half term.
This year’s science fair will take place on the 19th July and will include volcanoes and flux capacitors.
