Key Stage One children visited the Library to take part in some World Book Day activities. They met an illustrator and had a turn at doing some of their own illustrations. An author visited them virtually so they could hear her read to them and they had the chance to make a prop from their favourite books. Children had a lovely time and were able to swap their World Book Day voucher for a book of their choice.
Year 2 had a wonderful day at Black Country Museum. They were Historians and Artists. Children explored different homes, mining and shops from the 1920s-1950s and found out about the way people lived in the past. They also looked at the landscapes and what they could see in the foreground, midground and background of the landscape through a viewfinder.
Today we acknowledged Safer Internet Day in school! Classes tuned into a live lesson by the BBC that focussed on spotting scams and phishing! Some classes listened to stories with an online safety focus including ‘Old MacDonald had a Phone!’ and also used Now Press Play for an online safety audio experience! We have put some extra information available for parents today at our parents evening!
Some of our key stage 2 children attended a Boccia event at WV Active today. They participated against other schools, showing wonderful respect for the other competitors.
Following on from our recent family workshops in Early Years, Year 2 and Year 6, it has been wonderful to see parents sending in pictures of them doing maths at home with their children using what was shared with them in the workshops.
Yesterday, we joined with all Catholic Schools to experience and participate in the launch for schools of the Jubilee Year – pilgrims of hope. This included joining together for a live stream with all Catholic schools in the diocese where this was introduced to all children where we joined together in hymn and prayer. Children participated in various learning throughout the day and then we ended the Jubilee launch day building the logo together in the hall. Each class created one part, learning about it’s symbolism before sharing this knowledge and building up each element to form a masterpiece!
Yesterday, some of our Year 2 children attended a multi-skills event at Aldersley High School. They competed in lots of challenges, which tested their balance, coordination, speed and hand-eye coordination!
