Yesterday, our Year 5 children went to St Edmund’s Catholic Academy to host a Liturgy in their school chapel. Their liturgy was about our mothers and Mary. They shared that no matter what our mothers will always love us.
This morning, we were visited by Jo Goulding from the charity Father Hudson’s Care to talk about the issue of homelessness and how we can support those who do not have the basic human right of a warm bed, clean water and food.
She shared with children how Tabor House can support those who are homeless and the impact that this has had one some people’s lives.
Children were then provided with ideas about how we can support Father Hudson’s Care Good Shepherd Appeal during the period of Lent.
We were very lucky to have a visit yesterday from Mrs Kehoe from Aid to the Church in Need, who came to speak to your children around the work that their charity does in helping refugees, but also how children from SS Peter and Paul can help live out our mission of service and support others.
Year 1 planned and led a beautiful Class Liturgy yesterday on the theme of Vocations, using the example of one of our patron Saints as a focus of prayer. #vocation #prayerandliturgy Thank you to the families able to join us .
Our Year 6 class celebrated their class saint – St Josephine Bakhita – today by enjoying a class mass with Fr Alex and their families. Thank you to those that joined this morning.
This lunchtime, we joined St Chad’s Cathedral live as we watch the Installation of Fr Mark as Canon. He is being admitted as a member of metropolitan Cathedral of St Chad. We pray for him and the clergy that take up the rights and duties of their office.
We have celebrated this by sharing a special cake and some of our talented children have created portraits of Fr Mark.
We are really proud to have been recognised for living simply, sustainably and in solidarity by being awarded the Live Simply Award by CAFOD.
Pupils and staff are proud to have achieved the Live Simply Award after taking action to demonstrate they are living simply, sustainably and in solidarity with the world’s poorest communities. This two year journey has involved actions that have impacted school, the local area and globally.
Championed by overseas development charity CAFOD, we have been recognised for implemented a number of exceptional projects that highlighted the importance of caring for people and the planet.
We look forward to planning together as a school community to decide on ways our live simply journey can continue.
Key Stage 1 led a very special Liturgy yesterday during which they thought about how they will show love to others this Christmas. Their idea to decorate purple heart shaped balloons with their ‘go forth’ messages was very special indeed! A lovely, prayerful way to start the day. Thank you to families able to attend and to school council for serving refreshments afterward. #readytheway #prayerandliturgy
This afternoon we celebrated our Advent Mass in school. Father Alex blessed the Bambinelli that the children had produced in their classes! Well done to our Year 4 children, who sang an offertory hymn and our Liturgy Leaders who planned and led the mass with Father Alex.
Thank you to our school community who joined us.
