It is imperative that during Covid-19 your child’s learning does not suffer. Therefore at SS Peter and Paul we will continue to support any pupils, through our remote learning offer, who are unable to attend school for any reason relating to the COVID-19 pandemic, including any groups/bubbles of children who are self-isolating.
Curriculum Offer
We will teach the same curriculum remotely as we do in school wherever possible and appropriate. However, we have needed to make some adaptations in some subjects. For example, PE will be guided to activities you can do at home with limited equipment.
Study Time
We expect the remote learning set by our staff will take the pupils a minimum of 3 hours in Key Stage 1 and 4 hours in Key Stage 2.
Accessing Remote Education
Google Classroom will be used Years 1 to 6, where children will have access to their daily teaching resources for lessons. By using Google Classroom, the children can submit their work and receive feedback from their class teachers. Google Meet will also be used to conduct live lessons with their classes at set times.
Class Dojo and Google Classroom will be used to communicate with parents when necessary.
If for whatever reason you are unable to access Google Classroom, the work will also be available in your class folder on the website. Nursery and Reception will also be able to access their home learning via the the class folders by clicking the link below:
If you do not have digital or online access
We recognise that some pupils may not have suitable online access at home. For those children, we will provide weekly workpacks – delivered on a Monday and collected on a Friday so that teachers can still deliver feedback and keeps children in that weekly routine of learning.
We will also support, where we can, with chromebook devices provided by the goverment and data sim cards to support with the internet. If you feel you may be entitled to a chromebook please contact the school. If you do lend a chromebook from school, you will be required to sign a loan agreement form.

Engagement and Feedback
Child Expectations:
Parent Expectations:
- Your child/ren should access their live teaching every day – they need your support to do this. We have kept these well planned lessons to a manageable length to find time for.
- Your child/ren should attend their morning lesson to help them access the work set that
day. - Set a routine for school work with your child. Know when the live lessons of the day are and plan the day from there – make sure breaks and time away from the screen are planned in.
- We expect work set to be completed on the day it is set, and wherever possible within the school working day, this is the best routine to stick to, to keep some normality.
- Work handed in after 4:00pm may not be marked by the teacher – we expect all parents to appreciate that each class teacher is teaching children online and on site at the same time.
- Parental feedback about how things are going will help us support your child or you, ask forhelp when you need it.
- Senior leaders will not be expecting teachers to mark or give personalised feedback to
online work handed in after 4:00pm, because they will be planning for the following day. - We do recognise households may be sharing devices and have other work commitments, so, to be clear handing the work in is the most important thing
Feedback on work will be provided daily when submitted via Google classroom and weekly when submitted via workpacks. Where needed, a teacher may contact the parents over Class Dojo or email if immediate support is needed. In whole school or bubble closures, classes will also be set weekly quizzes on their learning on a Friday, which will provide staff with an opportunity to assess the child’s learning along with assessing their work throughout the week against the age related expectations for their year group.
Additional support for pupils with particular needs
At SS Peter and Paul, we recognise that some pupils, for example, pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), may not be able to access remote education without support from adults at home. We acknowledge the difficulties this may place on families, and we will work with parents and carers to support those pupils in the following ways:
- personalised learning for that child’s abiltiy provided online or in a work pack
- regular contact from the class teacher and SENco
Any support needed with home learning, please email: homework@sspeterandpaul.co.uk or contact the school on 01902 556447.
